Brandmeir decided to embrace technology in order to forward the goal of helping all state employees get the best benefits they can and to educate workers about high-deductible plan options, spearheading ALEX’s launch for the 2016 benefits open enrollment period. After a six-week period, 14,000 employees at the state level made a change in their benefits, and 7,800 workers at the local level made a change.
“Predicting the landscape for the next 10 years is a moving target, but I think employers, and communications professionals, will increasingly need to meet employees where they are,” says Brandmeir. “Meaning, the methods and tools used to communicate benefits, especially changes, need to be in formats that employees are using – interactive, on-demand and mobile-friendly.”
