Ready to relocate? These are the 10 best and worst states for work

Employees are eager to secure new jobs and are going cross-country to find them.

A quarter of workers plan to look for a new position in 2021, according to Prudential. To find the most ideal spot for work, financial wellness platform WalletHub ranked all 50 states to see which locale took the top spot. The rankings were given on a 100-point scale and were based on factors like unemployment rates, median salaries and average commute times.

New Hampshire, Vermont and Nebraska ranked high for having the most available job opportunities; Hawaii, New York and California all had the least. Washington took the top spot for highest monthly salary — employees living there make $3,734 per month. That’s almost two times higher than Alaska, where employees make an average of $1,970 per month, the lowest in the U.S.
