By now, employees are well aware of the ways artificial intelligence could disrupt their careers, but the rise of the controversial tech also comes with many new job opportunities

By 2030, 14% of employees will have been forced to change their career because of AI, according to a report from McKinsey. To help employees consider their options, a study from TRG Datacenters ranked AI-related job positions based on their demand by using search interest, job openings, and average salaries as key metrics.

TRG Datacenters' study analyzed 17 diverse AI roles, ranging from technical positions like machine learning engineers to non-technical ones such as AI product managers. For each role, a composite score was calculated and the jobs were then ranked by these scores to identify roles that are in high demand, financially rewarding and popular among job seekers.

"Understanding where demand is growing can reveal opportunities you might not have considered before," said a spokesperson from TRG Datacenters in the release. "High-demand fields often create ripple effects, generating a need for supporting roles and adjacent expertise. By staying informed about these trends, individuals can position themselves strategically in the job market, whether by upskilling, pivoting to new areas or exploring roles that align with these emerging needs."

Engineering roles within AI — such as machine learning, natural language processing and robotics — were found to be not only the most in-demand, with seven out of 10 roles falling into that category, but they're also some of the most lucrative. For example, a machine learning engineer is estimated to make over $160,000 a year, which is significantly higher than some of the other positions that also made the list.

Check out which AI-related careers TRG Datacenters found to have the most promising futures for candidates looking to break into the field.
