After record inflation rates decimated Americans' savings, workers hope their 2024 raises can at least keep them afloat — but it looks like some professions are better off than others.

Resume Genius analyzed data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics to see which industries are due to see the fastest wage and employment growth. While raises are expected to average around 4% in 2024, their research shows that professionals like lawyers, software developers and financial advisers will likely see increases as high as 10%.

"The job outlook for software and web development professionals remains highly positive, even following the 2023 tech layoffs, and these professionals have continued to benefit from the rapid growth of their industry," says Corissa Peterson, career expert at Resume Genius. "Similarly, financial and legal professionals are experiencing historic levels of demand and compensation for their specialized services."

Frontline workers such as healthcare professionals, truck drivers and passenger transportation drivers like Lyft and Uber drivers ranked in the top 15 for raises, hitting the 6-7% mark. Peterson points out that industries like healthcare have not regained the workers who left their jobs after the pandemic, causing a high demand from the public during a workforce shortage — so raises need to be competitive.
