20 careers where remote work is growing the most

Job seekers are still looking for fully remote jobs. In a recent FlexJobs survey, 81% of respondents stated that the ability to work remotely was "the most important factor in a job," ahead of salary, career advancement, benefits and other factors.

FlexJobs analyzed more than 50 career categories in its own database to determine which industries offered the most fully remote jobs between January and December 2024. The organization defines a fully remote job opening as any professional-level role that allows a worker to complete their job responsibilities entirely from home.

According to FlexJobs findings, the top 20 career industries saw at least 17% growth in fully remote jobs over the year. Engineering, business development and data entry saw the most significant growth in fully remote job openings.

"Remote work is a nonnegotiable [perk] for the majority of today's talent, so it's encouraging to see such a diverse range of industries presented on this year's list that are providing professionals with more opportunities to work flexibly," Toni Frana, lead career expert at FlexJobs, said in a release. "This is a positive development for both professionals seeking work-life balance and employers looking to attract top talent in a competitive market."
