The 10 best entry-level jobs for new graduates

For first-time entrants to the workforce, there may have never been a better time to graduate from college than 2022.

Employers plan to hire 26% more graduates from the class of 2022 than they did from the class of 2021, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers. With such a high influx of applicants and a competitive talent market, employees are eager to learn where they’ll have the best chance of success as they choose an employer.

WalletHub recently took stock of the first-timer job market, comparing 108 entry-level positions based on 12 key metrics. The data measured includes average starting salary, projected job growth by 2030 and median tenure with an employer.

Eight out of 10 of the best jobs for new grads fall under the engineering category, the research found. This could be due to the nature of the job and what employees are looking for out of their future careers, as well as evolving market demands.

“Any job or industry that requires creativity or problem-solving will continue [to thrive],” David Earnhardt, associate director for employer relations at the career center at the University of North Carolina Asheville, said in the report. “Graphic and website design, writing, database management, inside sales, customer service, architecture and engineering are examples.”
