Nearly 50 million Americans voluntarily quit their jobs last year, and millions have already followed their lead in 2022. With a need for talent to fill in the gaps left behind, recruiters are essential to every company’s success.
Flexjobs examined tens of thousands of jobs in its database between January and May of 2022, determining which staffing companies have the most remote freelance job listings. While most of the companies that made it to the top 10 are based in New York City, these employers are looking for help outside of their locale.

“Many businesses are struggling to bring on regular, long-term employees in today’s tight labor market, and they may be turning to freelancers to help fill those talent gaps or meet increased workloads,” says Kathy Gardner, vice president of communications at FlexJobs. “Hiring remote freelance workers can provide the chance to reach a wider talent pool or hire for non-traditional working arrangements.”
Gardner points out that employees and employers are looking for flexibility, especially as they combat a labor shortage and multiple public health crises this year.
