Taking the time off to start a family can be tough for new moms. But what happens when they're not ready to return to work full-time, but want to fill their days (and their bank accounts)? Enter, side-gigs.

The American Psychology Association found that mothers employed part time reported better overall health and fewer symptoms of depression than stay-at-home moms, in a 2011 study that looked at the impact of work on moms over the course of a decade. Today, technology is creating plenty of new and lucrative opportunities —  women-owned retail company, Q for Quinn analyzed TikTok hashtags like #sidehustle and #sidehustlecheck to rank roles based on their earning potential and popularity among the mom community.

"Side hustles have become increasingly popular among new moms seeking additional income and flexibility in their work schedules," said Melita Cyril, a spokesperson for Q for Quinn, in a release. "TikTok and other social media platforms can serve as useful sources of inspiration and ideas for potential side hustles. With the right precautions and a discerning eye, new moms can leverage these platforms to achieve their financial goals."

The jobs with the highest earning potential come from customer service side gigs, which came in first place and boast  an annual income of up to $90,000. Market research jobs came second on the list, with potential earnings of up to $70,000 per year. These jobs pay individuals to  discuss products or services in a group setting, or participate in focus group studies.

A few jobs on the list had less earning potential, but were appealing to moms for their flexibility and creative freedom. Roles like Netflix tagger — where workers watch streaming content and tag it according to the appropriate genre — book reviewer, narrator and social media manager offer around $44,000 per year in potential earnings.
