As 2025 is well underway, employers are still trying to understand employees' concerns and priorities when it comes to benefits, in order to promote workplace satisfaction and culture.
ADP recently released the seventh edition of its Employee Benefits Survey, with questions about compensation, 401(k) and other savings, flexible work arrangements, mental-health benefits and healthcare, with some of the results differing across genders, as well as across generations.
For workers in 2025, compensation still matters the most. A majority of survey respondents (56%) noted compensation as their most important work consideration.

Flexible work arrangements are declining in popularity as a key work benefit, with only 14% of respondents citing that as their most important benefit. Women care more about flexible work than men, as 17% of women respondents and only 11% of men respondents choose this as their most important benefit consideration.
Since 2018, more workers are prioritizing their 401(k), with 62% of respondents choosing 401(k) as a top three priority compared to only 30% of respondents in 2018.
More employees are favoring lower paycheck deductions for healthcare costs, with 53% of 2024 respondents favoring this compared to 47% of respondents in 2018. Gen Z is leading this charge with 58% of respondents in this generation opting for lower deductions and premiums.
