ADP is launching a new payroll app designed to help small businesses cut costs and save time while managing payroll.

Roll by ADP utilizes artificial intelligence to help employers complete payroll in less than a minute from their device using simple voice prompts like “run my payroll.” The app is meant to replace forms and spreadsheets, saving small businesses time while mimicking a conversational chat exchange.

“We saw an underserved segment of mobile savvy small business owners who were looking for a simple [and] intuitive payroll solution,” says Joe DeSilva, president of small business solutions at ADP. “Business owners who are on their own don’t have time to log in to [other programs] or make a call, but are comfortable on their phone.”

Through the app, users will have access to reminders for important tasks and deadlines, as well as live, in-app chat support to help them keep up with changing pay regulations and compliance issues.

“ADP’s growth has always been fueled by anticipating change and leading the way through evolving technological advancements,” Don Weinstein, corporate vice president of global product and technology at ADP, said in a release. “Roll by ADP is the latest example of the future of pay and makes payroll complexities a thing of the past."

Employers have been increasingly turning to technology to help their employees navigate remote work. MGM Resorts, HealthJoy and PwC have all added new digital tools and benefits for their employees. ADP’s payroll tool is the company’s latest initiative to help employers better manage their administrative tasks so they can improve the lives of their employees.

“Small business owners have been impacted by the pandemic in a way we have never seen,” DeSilva says. “As they continue to rebuild, the last thing an employer needs is to focus time and resources on another process that can be arduous or perceived as cost-prohibitive.”
