Castlight Health teams with Businessolver on new tech to help employees better understand their healthcare benefits

Employees are finding themselves at their wits’ end when it comes to selecting the best healthcare benefits that fit their unique needs and budgets.

A new partnership between Castlight Health and Businessolver is making benefits elections easier for workers to navigate, through a simplified benefits platform. Castlight, a digital platform that makes it easy for users to navigate their healthcare benefits and care options, will be incorporated into Businessolver’s Pinnacle Program.

“The goal of the program is to provide HR and benefits leaders with one simplified benefits administration platform that makes it as easy as possible for employees to navigate the full roster of benefits available to them,” says Frank Jennings, senior vice president and chief sales officer at Castlight Health. “The program also aims to support employees beyond open enrollment, making sure that employees are reminded of their benefits and actively staying engaged with their healthcare throughout the year.”

Clients will now have access to a one-stop shop to see their benefits and will also be provided with a virtual assistance tool that will take a more customized approach to their benefits needs, providing them with solutions that are more tailored to their specific situations.

For the employers, the partnership provides conveniences in being able to review an analytics dashboard that covers all their programs in one place for a comprehensive view of things like plan design selection, disease management utilization, and data on how employees are engaging with their overall benefits.

“Castlight’s partnership with Businessolver aims to make it easier for employees to fully understand their healthcare and workplace benefits by integrating with Businessolver’s benefits administration technology platform,” Jennings says. “This not only ensures that their workers remain healthy, but also can help to prevent health problems from escalating, prevent worse health outcomes and cut down on medical costs.”

With healthcare costs skyrocketing, and confusion around benefits at all time highs, the platform comes at a critical time as employees seek to get the most out of their benefit programs, Jennings says.

“We’ve reached a point where employers are realizing that due to the increased complexities of healthcare and the overwhelming number of growing condition management programs, they need to do more to help employees more easily and effectively navigate their health and well-being benefits and programs,” he says.

Employers are placing a greater focus on their health benefits in 2021 and beyond: 81% say well-being programs are the main focus of their 2021 benefits strategies, according to data from Willis Towers Watson. Yet employers will need to go further than they have in the past to drive home the need for such benefits in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Employers who utilize Castlight as their health navigation platform and who also use the Businessolver platform as part of benefits enrollment will be able to provide their employees with a full picture view of the entire roster of benefits the company offers,” Jennings says. “It’s critical that employers provide the right resources that allow employees to regularly engage with their care on a more consistent basis, and not just once a year during open enrollment period.”
