Virtual care provider Doctor on Demand has launched a new service to help workers and their families build coping skills and resilience through behavioral health and coaching tools.
Over 60% of employees say that they are experiencing greater stress than before the pandemic started, up from 30% pre-pandemic, according to research from MetLife. As such, employees are increasingly turning to their employers for benefits that support their overall well-being.

“COVID-19 has forced people to live with a sustained amount of stress and anxiety for the past year,” says Dan Lieberman, senior vice president and general manager of behavioral health at Doctor On Demand. “In response to this national need and the importance of preventive behavioral health care, we felt it was important to service the full mental health spectrum.”
Doctor on Demand’s coaching feature offers 24/7 support and certified coaches who are equipped to help with a variety of mental and behavioral health issues, including parenting struggles and major life transitions. The coaches will also be able to refer employees to more advanced care.

“Our coaches work with individuals to identify goals, create a plan that uses their skills and strengths to reach their goals, and motivates personal accountability that results in improvement,” Leiberman says. “Coaches provide members with the necessary structure and guidance to ensure they continue to make progress.”
ArcBest, a freight shipping company, is the first employer to utilize this benefit. The company is calling it Life Skills Coaching.
