Benefit pros on the move: Hodges-Mace, Lawley and Rogers & Gray make key appointments

Andrews appointed president of Hodges-Mace
Benefit technology provider Hodges-Mace has appointed Kevin Andrews to the role of president. He has been serving as chief technology officer since HM acquired SmartBen in 2014 and he will continue to serve in that role. As president and CTO, he will focus on technology services for Hodges-Mace. Andrews' team recently released SmartBen NOW, a mobile app and benefits dashboard.
Lawley hires Cooley for upstate New York focus
In an effort to serve companies in upstate New York, Laura Cooley has joined independent insurer Lawley as a retirement sales consultant. Cooley boasts more than 13 years of experience with different financial planning roles, including owning her own agency. Most recently, she served as a financial adviser at BS&P Wealth Management, which is based in Buffalo.
Rogers & Gray Insurance hires Cullivan as its first CIO
Peter Cullivan has been named as the first chief information officer for Rogers & Gray Insurance. In this newly-created senior management role, Cullivan will direct the technology initiatives for the insurer. Prior to joining Rogers & Gray, he worked as lead engineer and strategic account management for All Covered, a division of Konica Minolta. Previously, Cullivan held positions at Dimension Data and Brown Brothers Harriman, where he served as a lead engineer.

The Standard promotes Harrison-Hiatt to second vice president
Standard Insurance Company has promoted Melissa Harrison-Hiatt to second vice president of Employee Benefits Shared Services. Since joining the insurer in 2012, Harrison-Hiatt has led teams in the contact center and absence management departments. In her most recent role leading life & disability services, she managed the opening of The Standard's operations center in Altavista, Va. Before joining The Standard, Harrison-Hiatt worked at Citigroup. In her new role, Harrison-Hiatt will oversee project and process management, learning and development, System Administration, Business Finance and Producer Services for the employee benefits shared services team.
Jermyn named president of Cross Employee Benefits
Cross Insurance promoted Eric Jermyn to the role of president for one of its subsidiaries, Cross Employee Benefits. He will be based in Portland, Maine. In this new role, Jermyn's duties will include growing and maintaining Cross Insurance's benefits business, as well as P&L responsibilities for operations in Augusta, Lewiston and Portland, Maine, and Somersworth, N.H. Jermyn joined Cross Employee Benefits in 2015 as vice president of business development. Before that, he worked at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine as director of large group sales.
Malnar joins Fringe Benefit Group as COO and CFO
John Malnar has joined company benefit administrator Fringe Benefit Group as chief operating officer and chief financial officer. In his new joint role, Malnar will manage corporate and financial operations, oversee business analytics and reporting, and assist with strategic initiatives. Malnar most recently served as CFO of YapStone Holdings, and before that he was CFO at PayPros. He also spent more than a decade at BlackRock, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan.
USI acquires employee benefits business from The Hartman Group
USI Insurance Services has acquired Hartman Employee Benefits from The Hartman Group to boosts its presence in the MidAtlantic region. Hartman Employee Benefits and its employees will remain at their current Williamsport and State College, Pennsylvania offices.
John J. Micale, USI Mid-Atlantic regional CEO, said: "We look forward to advancing our benefits practice together in central Pennsylvania and to extending our presence as the preeminent insurance brokerage and consulting firm in the Mid-Atlantic region."

Nybo joins Strategic Retirement Partners
Stig Nybo has joined Strategic Retirement Partners to lead and grow the Northern California team's West Coast practice. Nybo boasts more than 25 years of experience in the retirement business: He has worked in strategy, operations, sales and marketing, and on technology teams as president of Transamerica Retirement Services. He has also served on advisory boards for RetirementJobs.com, EBRI, and Betterment for Business.
Reed joins Benefit Commerce Group
Benefit Commerce Group of Scottsdale, Ariz., has hired Shawna Reed for a newly-created position as vice president, strategy and employer advocacy. She will support the firm's benefit consulting team to meet its business development goals and develop relationships with employers. Prior to joining BCG, she was vice president and senior account executive at Aon Hewitt in Phoenix and assistant vice president and senior account executive at Lockton Companies in Scottsdale.
Saladyga signs Lawley as retirement sales consultant
Independent insurance brokerage Lawley has added Patrick Saladyga as its new retirement sales consultant to support the upstate and downstate companies in New York. Saladyga will work in both the Buffalo and Rochester offices to assist companies with their retirement plan management needs. A Canisius College graduate, Saladyga has worked as a financial services representative for Foresters Financial Services.

MEDI+SIGN appoints Dr. Stanowski to advisory board
Healthcare technology provider MEDI+SIGN has appointed Dr. Anthony Stanowski to its Advisory Board. Stanowski is the president and CEO for the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education, which promotes the quality of graduate healthcare management education through accreditation. He previously held executive and management positions at Aramark and Thomson Reuters Healthcare Division, as well as other academic and community-based health systems, and entrepreneurial organizations.
Stanowski co-authored the book, "We Have a Match: My Journey through America's Transplant System."
